ABOUT MAJOR DWAYNE JONES

    Major Dwayne Jones is a Griffin native and Griffin High School graduate. He brings nearly three decades of law enforcement experience to the Spalding County Sheriff's Office. He previously served with the Griffin Police Department where he rose through the ranks retiring as a Captain.

    Major Jones is a graduate of the 201st session of the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy in Quantico Virginia. The FBI Academy is designed for senior law enforcement mangers. It is recognized as the premier law enforcement training course available for law enforcement officers. He also graduated from Class 3 of the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police Law Enforcement Command College in Columbus. Major Jones holds P.O.S.T. (Peace Officer Standards and Training) certificates in Management and Supervision. He has been certified as a law enforcement general instructor for over twenty years.

    Major Jones has a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Mercer University and a Master of Public Administration degree from Columbus State University. Major Jones also serves as an adjunct instructor with Columbus State University, lecturing in the Professional Management Program. He also instructs in the PMP program for the Georgia Department of Corrections, where he specializes in Criminal Rehabilitation programs. His professional affiliations include the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy Associates.

    Major Dwayne Jones serves as the Agency Administrator and Public Information Officer. His duties include managing the multi-million-dollar budget and serving in the capacity of Chief Financial Officer for the agency. He is the primary media representative and manages the agencies social media accounts. Jones supervises two deputies that serve in the Office of Professional Standards (OPS) and one deputy in the Training section. The front lobby personnel also fall under his supervision.
